Surfside Cellars is one of the most unique wineries in the world. We don't do anything the "normal" way. We strive to be so different that everyone else is afraid to even attempt our methods. From trucking grapes down the coast in order to expose them to hundreds of miles of sea breeze to aging casks of wine deep in the ocean, our unconventional methods have resulted in some of the most complex wines ever produced.

All of our grapes are grown in the California’s famed Napa Valley. We've been able to create incomparable wines every year by purchasing grapes from a variety of vineyards. Our expert buyer roams the valley months before harvest time assessing how the year's weather has affected Napa's various vineyards. He uses intuition gained from five decades of experience to select the grapes early in the season. This allows us to strike deals to buy grapes that a small vintner would not normally have access to.

And a small vintner we are. We make a total of just 1000 cases per year. Demand has grown such that we could expand ten fold, but we have chosen not to. We just don't want to work that hard. We want to enjoy our laid back Southern California lifestyles. When the surf is good, we don't come in to work before noon. When the surf is great, we just take the day off. Life is too short to waste good surf.

This "no worries" attitude has served us extremely well. Our best vintages are often a result of happy accidents. I suppose we're extremely lucky. May our luck continue.  Cheers, from all of us here at Surfside Cellars.
